Feb 22, 2017 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines is reining in on the number of destinations served in Russia from Turkish airports.
With the last flight from Istanbul to Novosibirsk on March 23, 2017, the carrier is closing services on the route after only one year of operations.
Another Russian destination to lose Turkish Airlines' services is Astrakhan that will also cease to be a destination on Turkish Airlines' route map from the end of March 2017.
Turkish Airlines however remains the leading foreign airline as to the number of destinations in Russia, with Moscow, St Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Stavropol, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, and Kazan on the route map.
And from April 4, 2017, the carrier will launch flights on a new route from Istanbul to Voronezh.
Second among foreign airlines with Russian destination on the map is flydubai with flights from Dubai to seven cities in Russia: Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Kazan, Mineralnye Vody, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar.
Earlier, flydubai also provided flights to Nizhniy Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Ufa.
