Feb 20, 2017 (newstodate): Even before its first commercial flight on March 27, 2017, the new Norwegian carrier FlyViking is airing plans for a route network far beyond its initially known plans for domestic flights.
In addition to a string of domestic routes in Norway, FlyViking has now also revealed plans for flights from Torp Sandefjord Airport to Stockholm and Copenhagen.
But the vision does not stop there: flights are also envisaged from Norway to Gothenburg in Sweden and Keflavik on Iceland as well as to Murmansk in northernmost Russia.
FlyViking has now been awarded its AOC and Commercial License, two Bombardier Dash-8 have been delivered, and plans include building a fleet of up to 19 Bombardier Dash-8-100 aircraft, with the first 10 to be delivered on a leasing contract with the Canadian company Avmax, Canada, over the coming two years.
But according to a Norwegian aviation media, FlyViking, owned and managed by Ole Gjaver, is also in the market for acquisition of up to 10 aircraft the size of either Embraer E-jet or Bombardier CS aircraft.
