Feb 22, 2017 (newstodate): Measured in passenger volumes January 2017, Latvia's Riga Airport remains leader in the Baltic region.
The airport handled a total of 369,934 passenger in January, while Lithuania's Vilnius Airport handled 277,582 passenger and Estonia's Tallinn Airport another 154,614 passengers.
Looking at growth rates in January 2017, Tallinn Airport however took the lead with an increase by 21 percent, y-o-y, followed by Vilnius Airport with 17 percent, while Riga Airport managed to grow its passenger volumes by five percent.
The largest airline operators at Riga Airport were airBaltic, growing its passenger volumes by 13 percent, Ryanair that saw its passenger volumes down by eight percent, and Wizz Air that grew by four percent.
At Vilnius Airport, Ryanair was the undisputed leader in passenger volumes that were up 39 percent, followed by Wizz Air up two percent, and airBaltic with an increase by 30 percent.
Finally at Tallinn Airport, Nordica was #1 with an increase by 62 percent in January 2017, followed by airBaltic up 41 percent and Finnair that grew its passenger volumes by 15 percent, y-o-y.
