Dec 06, 2017 (newstodate): New in the air over Cambodia is Small Planet Airlines Cambodia, a member of the Lithuanian Small Planet Airlines Group.
The Cambodian carrier became the 7th airline registered in the country after obtaining its AOC on October 5, 2017, and the airline performed its first commercial flight from Siem Reap to a Chinese destination by the start of this month.
From the start, Small Planet Airlines is basing two Airbus A320 aircraft with the Cambodian subsidiary, aiming at growing the fleet to six aircraft by 2020.
The Cambodian-based company Small Planet Airlines Co. Ltd is owned 51 percent of the Cambodian capital company Aviation Invest Cambodia, Small Planet Group owns 29 percent and the remaining 20 percent are held by the company's chief executives.
Small Planet Airlines first entered the Cambodian market in winter 2014 under a five-year contract with the Cambodian airline Sky Angkor, deploying four Airbus A320 aircraft on routes from Siam Reap to various destinations in China and South Korea.
