Dec 20, 2017 (newstodate): Within two years, Copenhagen Airport will see the commissioning of a new 20,000 sq m cargo center.
The new facility will be designed by the German developer AXXUS Capital and aiming at enhancing the handling of the growing proportion of belly cargo shipments on passenger aircraft, rather than freighters.
-Especially on the long-haul intercontinental air routes, belly cargo is a particularly important part of the business. This cargo can make up more than 10 percent of revenue on a route, says Peter Krogsgaard, Copenhagen Airport CCO.
-Today, belly cargo accounts for 40 percent of the total tonnage at CPH and is up seven percent in 2017. We are actively working to attract even more long-haul routes, so it is an important part of our strategy to create a good platform for air cargo at Copenhagen Airport, says Mr Krogsgaard.
-At this moment, it has not been decided which operator will eventually take over the handling operations, says an airport press spokesman.
