Dec 14, 2017 (newstodate): ICAO has now completed another third audit of the civil aviation business of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Transport and Roads the audit was completed successfully with comparatively few remaining snags that will be adjusted over the coming months.
After this, Kyrgyzstan hopes to be lifted off the Black List in 2018 or in early 2019, allowing its airlines to launch new international routes.
In the country are now 22 airlines, 10 of which operate on own AOCs. Four carriers are dedicated to passenger transportation, while the remaining carriers are cargo and special airlines.
As a recent move, the country's Ministry of Transportation has approved that Kyrgyz airline may hire foreign pilots to operate aircraft types that do not have sufficient supply of licensed Kyrgyz cockpit crews.
Since 2007, all Kyrgyzstan's carriers have been on the EU Black List barring them from operating into EU markets.
