Dec 21, 2017 (newstodate): Cabo Verde's national airline TACV Cabo Verde Airlines is to operate four Boeing 757 aircraft from the base at Cabo Verde Sal Airport.
The aircraft including cockpit crews are provided by Icelandair while the cabin crews are from Cabo Verde Airlines.
The first two aircraft landed were delivered by early November 2017, the third aircraft will follow early in 2018, and the fourth and last under the current contract will be delivered around May 2018.
The first two aircraft are thus now deployed to serving routes from Cabo Verde to Portugal, the USA, and UK.
The aircraft lease arrangement is part of the one-year management agreement announced in August 2017 between the Government of Cabo Verde and the Loftleidir Group for the restructuring of the loss-making TACV Cabo Verde Airlines.
The aim of the agreement is to position TACV as a key strategic asset contributing to Cabo Verde's potential as a year-round tourist destination, and to develop Cabo Verdes position as a transfer hub with a CAT 1 airport linking four continents.
