Dec 20, 2017 (newstodate): SAS and Avinor managing Norway's airports have entered an agreement taking effect from the start of 2018 to develop SAS traffic further at Norway's airports including the hub at Oslo Airport.
The agreement is trading expanded SAS traffic for a range of cost-cutting initiatives on the part of Avinor including lower airport fees, enhanced transfer services and other issues.
If these preconditions are fulfilled, SAS pledges to set up more routes including intercontinental routes and add more aircraft capacity to serve the Norwegian market with flights also to China and North America from Oslo Airport.
Scanty details were announced at a press conference in Oslo chaired by SAS and Avinor top-brass - but the actual document remains signed and sealed and not for publication, according to a spokesman for Avinor while SAS prefers not to respond to an inquiry by newstodate at all.
Only in May 2017, SAS Norway announced that there was really no market background for more intercontinental flights from Norway, responding to a hefty attack from Norwegian accusing SAS for blocking competition in Norway ahead of a round of aviation talks with Russia.
