According to information carried by the media Airlineroute, Hainan Airlines have applied with the country's regulator CAAC for license to operate five weekly flights to Oslo, including three weekly rotations between Beijing and Oslo and two weekly rotations on the route between Oslo and Shenzhen, close to Hong Kong in southern China.
Flights from Beijing will be started from April 2018, with flights from Shenzhen will launch from May 2018, pending the final approval by all authorities involved.
The opening of direct non-stop flights from Oslo to China in 2018 coincides with a rebound in Norwegian seafood exports to China that are expected to rise to 70,000 tonnes per year after the opening from this winter of the Chinese wall to Norwegian exporters.
Today, the only direct uplift for Asia out of Oslo Airport is provided by Korean Airlines Cargo since 2003 to Seoul, South Korea, and DHL Freight Forwarding with the first flight on September 8, 2017, to Seoul, continuing to Shanghai.
