Industry reports claim that the volume of fresh salmon for the Chinese market has quadrupled during the recent few weeks and the volumes have only started to boom.
-Earlier in 2016 we were informed that China would implement new, revised quarantine requirements from November 2017, and the Norwegian and Chinese authorities now expect the Norwegian seafood export volumes to reach some 70,000 tonnes per year, transported by air, says Martin Langaas, Avinor Director Cargo.
As this development gains pace, needs for more direct air logistics solutions from Oslo Airport rise as well.
Today, the only direct uplift for Asia out of Oslo Airport is provided by Korean Airlines Cargo since 2003 to Seoul, South Korea, and DHL Freight Forwarding with the first flight on September 8, 2017, to Seoul, continuing to Shanghai.
Needs and market opportunities for a carrier to add freighter capacity from Oslo directly to one or more Chinese destinations are therefore growing with the new market opening in China.
