Nov 13, 2017 (newstodate): The lid has now again been placed on the ongoing dispute about extending Russian overflight rights to comprise also the ambitious low-cost carrier Norwegian.
The latest round of aviation talks between Russia and Scandinavia covered two days of negotiations last week in Oslo, Norway, but no progress was made from the Scandinavian side where the Norwegian representative led the negotiating team.
The bleak conclusion is supported by comments to newstodate from Norway's Minister of Transportation, Ketil Solvik-Olsen.
-It is correct that no agreement was reached to grant Sibir overflight rights to one more carrier from Scandinavia, says Mr Solvik-Olsen.
-However, discussions to further develop the aviation relations between the Scandinavian countries and Russia will be pursued at the next meeting, slated for June 2018.
-The Norwegian government works hard to support the country's aviation industry to allow for better air connectivity for passengers and businesses alike, says Mr Solvik-Olsen.
