Nov 15, 2017 (newstodate): The Latvian charter carrier RAF-AVIA based at Riga Airport has now become member of ERA, the European Regions Airline Association.
-The membership of ERA provides us with a possibility to exchange positive experience and promote good practices in the aviation market. We are sure that ERA as a representative of the majority of European airlines has a much stronger position as an organization in promoting airlines interests among aviation authorities of the European Union than any airline individually, says Valeriy Bolotnov, RAF-AVIA Chairman of the Board.
In the fleet are now four An-26 and two SAAB 340 freighters plus the carrier's first of two ATR-72 freighters ordered.
The ATR-72 freighter entered service with RAF-AVIA in May 2017, and the delivery of the second aircraft was planned for summer - but re-scheduled for December 2017 as the aircraft was still not available.
Plans were also to start retreating the AN-26 from service with the first to go in January 2017, but the service life of the AN-26 freighter fleet was instead extended by another year.
