Nov 07, 2017 (newstodate): Lithuania is to land a much-coveted new air connection with Kazakhstan from 2018.
Still to be officially announced and entered into the time table, the Kazakh carrier SCAT Airline plans to launch services between Astana and Vilnius from May 2018, as published by the Kazakh media reporting from 10th International Conference on Transport and Transit Potential, Trans Eurasia-2017.
Already in 2008 and again in 2014, the Kazakh-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation discussed the possibility of Kazakh airlines conducting direct flights to Vilnius, and this issue has been on the agenda on several later occasions.
SCAT Airlines was on the list of air carriers banned in the EU until December 8, 2016, but it still to launch its first route into the EU markets.
In the fleet of IOSA-certified SCAT Airline are 18 aircraft including one Boeing 767-300, four Boeing 757-200, and seven Boeing 737 aircraft of various types.
