Nov 30, 2017 (newstodate): Already a major player in the air traffic between Northern Europe and Asia, Finnair will increase the volume of weekly rotations on the Asian lanes again in 2018.
This year, Finnair is operating 87 weekly flights from Helsinki to Asia, and this will grow further to 97 weekly flights in 2018.
The growth will include the opening of a flights to a new Chinese destination, Nanjing, in the summer 2018 schedule.
Many of the Asian flights go through Russian airspace where Finland has been more lucky than its Scandinavian counterpart in securing additional rights to pass through the Sibir and Polar airlines.
After the latest round of negotiations this year, Finland obtained rights to increase the number of flights between Finland and destinations in Asia through Russian airspace from 65 to now 80 weekly operations.d
This latest increase allows Finnair to increase its volume on these lanes by 15 percent and paves the road for Finnair to launch the coming new flights on the route Helsinki-Nanjing.
