Nov 29, 2017 (newstodate): FedEx is again surprising the industry by placing a new order for turboprop short-haul feeder aircraft.
After ordering 30 ATR72-600s plus 20 options only earlier this month, the company has now placed an order for 50 Cessna SkyCourier 408 aircraft, with options for a further 50.
The new twin-engined aircraft, a development of the single-engined Cessna Caravan, is scheduled to enter service in 2020, equipped with a large cargo door and offering a capacity of lifting three LD3 containers corresponding to eight tonnes of cargo on feeder lines.
