Nov 24, 2017 (newstodate): Plans are now firming up for construction of a cargo center at the new Moscow Ramenskoye Zhukovsky Airport.
The airport was officially opened only on May 30, 2016, as the fourth international airport to serve the Moscow area and relieve the pressure on the existing capital airport complex.
A new transport and logistics cargo terminal will be constructed comprising a four-story 9,300 sq building equipped with functional areas for servicing international and domestic cargo, reception and clearance areas, offices, engineering and technical premises.
The terminal will be designed for handling of 100,000 tonnes of cargo annually, 80,000 tons of which will go by air while the remaining 20,000 tonnes will be provided by road feeder services.
Estimates are that some 760 percent of the total cargo throughput will be international cargo.
Ramenskoye Zhukovsky Airport has two runways, one of which is the longest in Europe - 5,400m.
Lithuania's Avia Solutions Group holds 75 percent of the stake in the JV controlling Zhukovsky Airport.
