Oct 25, 2017 (newstodate): Like other migratory birds, part of the aircraft fleet operated by the Lithuanian charter and ACMI carrier Small Planet Airlines is now heading south during the European winter season.
-This is part of Small Planet Airlines strategy to move part of the fleet to Asia in winter months, and we have continuous business in Cambodia, where we now have our own AOC, says Simonas Bartkus, Small Planet Airlines CCO.
Small Planet Airlines first entered the Cambodian market in winter 2014 under a five-year contract with the Cambodian airline Sky Angkor, deploying four Airbus A320 aircraft on routes from Siam Reap to various destinations in China and South Korea.
In winter 2017/18, Small Planet Airlines plans to allocate three aircraft to its Cambodian subsidiary, going up to six aircraft in the next two years, with capacity sold primarily to local tour operators.
-In winter 2016 we also operated other shorter projects in this part of the world as well as in Saudi Arabia, and in India where we operated on an ACMI contract with GoAir, comprising two aircraft during the winter months, says Mr Bartkus.
Already now, the carrier is operating more block hours in Asia than in its European traffic.
In the fleet of Small Planet Airlines are now 18 Airbus A320 and four Airbus A321 aircraft.
The airline will continue to operate from Lithuanian, Polish, German, French, and Dutch bases during the winter period, flying to holiday destinations in the Canary Islands, Egypt, and European skiing resorts.
