Oct 05, 2017 (newstodate): The Scandinavian carrier SAS is making a renewed effort to boost traffic at west Denmark's Aarhus Airport.
From the summer 2018 schedule, the carrier will launch flights on five new international routes from Aarhus Airport, with destinations comprising Oslo and Stockholm as well as Mallorca, Munich, and Split.
At the same time, SAS will also increase frequency on its route connecting Aarhus and Copenhagen from today's eight to 10 daily flights.
In addition, the existing seasonal route operated by SAS between Aarhus Airport and Malaga will be extended into a year-round service.
The new traffic will require a major expansion of the airport's passenger facilities as the traffic is expected to rise by some 50 percent.
Already today, Aarhus Airport is connected to Stockholm by SUN-Air's two daily flights to Stockholm's Bromma Airport, and SUN-AIR also offers up to two daily rotations on the route from Aarhus to Oslo Airport.
Ryanair is to launch flights on a new route from Aarhus Airport to Gdansk, in Poland, starting from October 29, 2017, and up to seven weekly flights to London.
The Czech carrier CSA offers four weekly rotations on the route between Prague and Aarhus.
In 2016, the airport handled a total of 383,154 passengers, an increase by five percent, y-o-y.
