Oct 09, 2017 (newstodate): The Russian leasing company VEB Leasing will be throwing four Airbus A380 aircraft on the market in 2018.
Transaero signed an MoU with Airbus in October 2011, firming up the purchase order in June 2012 for delivery of four Airbus A380 aircraft under a leasing agreement with VEB Leasing, with two aircraft to arrive in 2015 and the remaining two in 2016.
Transaero, however, went bust and ceased operations from October 2015, leaving VEB Leasing with the contract that could not be cancelled as down-payments had already been provided.
The leasing company will now seek new owners to the aircraft, but due to the current regime of sanctions imposed on Russia the aircraft can not be transferred to US or European companies.
