Oct 25, 2017 (newstodate): First airline in the CIS to place orders for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Azerbaijan Airlines is now ready to order more aircraft of this type.
Speaking at a national aviation conference, the carrier's CEO has announced that a new order for "more" Boeing 787 will be placed before the end of this year, in this case concerning the larger Boeing 787-9.
The carrier took delivery of its two Boeing 787-8 aircraft ordered in 2008 on December 23 and 24, 2014, respectively.
More fresh orders for Boeing aircraft are to come from the state-owned cargo carrier Silk Way Airlines that will acquire two more Boeing 747-8F aircraft adding to its fleet already comprising nine freighters of this type, five of which are operated by Silk Way West Airlines.
