Oct 10, 2017 (newstodate): An increase by 18.8 percent in cargo on the Asian lanes raised Finnair Cargo's volumes in September 2017 to 15,197 tonnes, up 13.2 percent, y-o-y.
Out of 13,496 tonnes carrier on the Finnair's passenger flights, 10,094 tonnes were thus generated on the carrier's routes between Helsinki and destinations in Asia.
N Atlantic volumes were less encouraging, totaling only 862 tonnes, down 11.1 percent.
On the other hand, cargo on the three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL, as well as cargo space rented on Japan Airlines daily flights between Tokyo and Helsinki fared better, increasing 17.2 percent to 1,701 tonnes in September.
Counting cargo on pax as well on freighter flights together, Finnair Cargo saw in January-September totals up by 5.8 percent, y-o-y, to 116,142 tonnes, again driven by Asian volumes totaling 74,681 tonnes and up 5.8 percent.
-The strongest growth markets year-on-year were Japan, Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong and the main Chinese destinations, the company says in a comment to the statistics.
