Oct 06, 2017 (newstodate): The road by SAS Cargo to obtain IATA's CEIV certification of its three Scandinavian hubs seems to be more bumpy than earlier expected.
In March, 2017, the company said that, as a first, SAS Cargo and Spirit Air Cargo Handling were opening Oslo Airport as a fully CEIV certified station already "this month", and the process would be completed at SAS' other two Scandinavian hubs at Stockholm and Copenhagen in May-June 2017.
This was later adjusted in June 2017 when SAS Cargo stated in a release that Oslo Airport was expected to be certified "this summer", with the other major hubs at Copenhagen and Stockholm to follow "right after".
As the leaves turn red deep into the autumn, neither of the three stations have, however, yet been CEIV certified.
-We have contacted IATA again on August 7 to press for a date for the final written documents certifying Oslo Airport as our first Scandinavian CEIV station after the audit has been completed and all pertinent snags have been corrected. All conditions have thus been met at Oslo Airport, Leif Rasmussen, SAS Cargo CEO, told newstodate as reported on August 9, 2017.
-Next to follow is the completion of the certification processes concerning Copenhagen and Stockholm. We are currently installing additional cooling facilities at these stations, and plans are now that works will be completed at Copenhagen Airport in week 37, followed by Stockholm Arlanda Airport in week 43, Mr Rasmussen said.
In the meantime, SAS Cargo received its formal CEIV certification from IATA on July 31, 2017, and the company is thus fully capable of handling pharmaceuticals and other high-yield sensitive shipments requiring enhanced quality and special procedures.
