Jan 12, 2017 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes increased by 10.96 percent, y-o-y, at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport in 2016.
A total of 9,086 tonnes of cargo was handled, including 7,489 tonnes of cargo and 1,597 tonnes of mail.
Compared to 2015, cargo volumes were thus up by 11 percent, while mail volumes also increased by 10.4 percent.
Also significant is the fact that the rise in volumes remained positive in all months indicating a sustained positive trend in the Lithuanian market.
In 2016, EAT operating for DHL remained the dominating carrier with 58.6 percent of all tonnage handled at Vilnius Airport, followed by Lufthansa with 10.71 percent and airBaltic with 6.71 percent of the volumes.
