Jan 24, 2017 (newstodate): It now seems increasingly doubtful if Air India has finally decided to pick Copenhagen Airport as its coming gateway to Scandinavia.
On January 17, 2017, a twitter message seemed to confirm that Air India would indeed launch services from Delhi to Copenhagen from May with Boeing 787 flights, but only a day later Ashwani Lohani, Air India CMD, told Indian press that the carrier has presented a tentative list with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation comprising flights to six new destinations to be opened in 2017.
Featuring on this list was Stockholm or Copenhagen, seemingly leaving the eventual choice of a Scandinavian destination still in the balance.
Now an Indian media reports that Mr Lohani, speaking at the update and outlook meeting of the PATA India chapter, said that the carrier plans to fly to six new destinations in 2017, including Stockholm - with no mentioning of Copenhagen.
Air India flights between Delhi and Stockholm have also now been entered into the carrier's booking system, with no mentioning of Copenhagen.
So either Copenhagen is finally out - or the route under preparation may be a triangular routing through both Stockholm and Copenhagen.
