Jan 13, 2017 (newstodate): Riga Airport is again to have a new CEO to replace the current holder installed only by the end of October 2016.
For yet unknown reasons, Armands Jurjevs has announced that he is stepping down after only some three months in the seat, and the airport supervisory board will meet today at an extraordinary meeting to discuss the situation.
In August 2016, the supervisory board opened a tender for the position as airport CEO after the former CEO Andris Liepins and Ilmars Upenieks, a member of the airport' s management board, were sacked in June 2016 after accusation of serious conflicts of interest.
An internal audit conducted by the airport's internal audit suggested that the two managers probably had their personal interests in mind when concluding contracts on behalf of the airport.
