Jan 20, 2017 (newstodate): Iceland's cargo carrier Bluebird Cargo has renewed its maintenance contract with AAR.
Under the refreshed contract, the US aircraft maintenance provider AAR will be responsible for supporting the operations of Bluebird Cargo's fleet of four converted Boeing 737-300 and two Boeing 737-400 freighters from its European logistics network and mainland distribution center in Brussels, Belgium.
Based at Keflavik Airport, Iceland, Bluebird Cargo provides freight services via its extensive network and ACMI and Wet Lease services throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
Bluebird Cargo's lease of three of the four Boeing 737-300 aircraft is due to expire in 2017, and the fourth will be returned to its lessor by May 2018.
The carrier is now negotiating the lease of one Boeing 737-400 to be delivered by May 2017, and more freighters of this type are also being considered.
