Jan 12, 2017 (newstodate): With no exception, all capital airports in the Nordic and Baltic markets report growth in passenger figures in 2016.
Denmark's Copenhagen Airport retained its position as the undisputed largest airport in the Nordic/Baltic region, with a total of 29,043,287 passengers in 2016 - an increase by nine percent, y-o-y.
Second was Norway's Oslo Airport with a growth by 4.5 percent to 25,764,347 passengers, followed by Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport with 24,702,419 passengers, up seven percent, y-o-y.
Also in the Nordic region, Finland's Helsinki Airport saw its passenger volumes up by 4.6 percent to 17.2 mio, and the Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport grew its volumes by 5.8 percent to 292,393 passengers.
Iceland's Keflavik Airport handled 6,821,358 passengers while recording the largest increase of all airports in the Nordic/Baltic market - no less than 40.5 percent, y-o-y.
In the Baltic region, Latvia's Riga Airport handled 5,402,545 passengers, an increase by 4.7 percent, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport grew its volumes by 14.33 percent to 3,814,001 passengers, and Estonia's Tallinn Airport saw its passenger volumes in 2016 up by 2.5 percent to 2,221,595.
