Jan 24, 2017 (newstodate): Sweden's Malmo Airport, at the Oresund coast, saw its total cargo volumes up by 5.3 percent, y-o-y, in 2016.
A total of 28,531 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, compared to 27,096 tonnes the year before.
Actually, volumes were rising steeper through most of the year at Malmo Airport, but from November 15, 2016, AirBridgeCargo Airlines moved its Scandinavian operation from Malmo Airport to Oslo Airport, lured by the ever-growing loads of Norwegian seafood exports.
This left a strong mark on the airport's volumes in the last two months of the year, with tonnage in November 2016 down by 21 percent, y-o-y, and in December 2016 down by 19 percent.
