Sep 21, 2016 (newstodate): Rumors are circulating that the Norwegian carrier Wideroe is planning for introducing jet aircraft to its fleet now comprising Bombardier turboprop aircraft on domestic routes.
Norwegian media claim that Wideroe might take up to 10 jet aircraft such as Bombardier CS100, and that the Board will make a decision at its mid-October meeting.
Not surprisingly, Wideroe refuses to comment in the specific issues.
-Wideroe is constantly monitoring the markets to identify new potential business opportunities as well as considering aircraft suitable for the various cases, says Silje Brandvoll, Wideroe Director Communications.
-Also, we are in a close dialogue with unions in our discussions to establish platforms for sustained growth. We are, however, not aiming at competing head-on with players like Norwegian and SAS and stick to our business strategy as set down by the Board.
-Assessments of new market possibilities and evaluations of our future aircraft fleet remain an ongoing process, says Ms Brandvoll.
