Sep 15, 2016 (newstodate): Turkmenistan Airlines is running into problems with flights through Russian airspace.
The carrier has amassed a debts pile in the form of unpaid invoices for air navigation charges from Russia's aviation agency, Rosaviation.
Failing to meet several deadlines for payments, including the last set for September 14, 2016, Russia has now denied Turkmenistan Airlines access to airnav services, meaning that the carrier will not be able to fly through Russian airspace.
Among the routes to be hurt by this is the carrier's direct flights since October 31, 2013, between Ashgabat and Riga.
