Sep 12, 2016 (newstodate): Denim Air, owned by Sky Greenland, is now hiring cockpit crews for its new Fokker aircraft.
In August 2016, Sky Greenland signed a lease-purchase contract for two Fokker 50 aircraft, formerly operated by the now-defunct Belgian carrier VLM Airlines.
After technical appraisal the aircraft have been placed on the AOC of Denim Air, since January 2016 owned by Sky Greenland.
The two Fokker 50 aircraft will be operating on a domestic route network in Greenland under a strategy comprising both passenger and cargo operations.
-The launch date of our new domestic services in Greenland has not yet been fixed as we want everything to in place before making any announcement. But we are certainly going to enter the market in Greenland to prove that domestic flights can indeed be operated profitably without state subsidies, Gert Brask, Sky Greenland CEO, told newstodate in August 2016.
According to Mr Brask, the aircraft may be operated even at Greenland's smaller airports, albeit with a weight penalty in some cases.
