Sep 08, 2016 (newstodate): Russia and Germany have negotiated amendments to the existing air services agreement from 1993, in order to enhance liberalization of air services between the two parties.
The amendments bring benefits to the air cargo industry in the form of more flexibility.
-Lufthansa Cargo will benefit from overflight rights without the necessity for technical stops. Overall we will offer more nonstop flights to and from Asia. Thus the number of technical stops decreases significantly, says Michael Goentgens, Lufthansa Cargo Director Communications.
-As a consequence, our technical stopover for the remaining flights will change from Krasnoyarsk to Novosibirsk. With such a small number of technical stops, Novosibirsk offers cost advantages as we can almost fully rely on an existing infrastructure, such as deicing services, and do not have to provide such services on our own.
-Another outcome of the negotiations is more planning security for AeroLogic for flights to Asia, says Mr Goentgens.
Benefits apply, of course, also the Russian cargo operators.
The parties agreed that one Russian designated cargo carrier, Volga-Dnepr Group's ABC, will be granted five weekly frequencies for MoscowMunichLiege services along with 5th Freedom Rights within the Munich-Liege segment, with the provision that the flight starts and ends in the same German city.
