Sep 20, 2016 (newstodate): The Polish carrier LOT is preparing for launch of flights on its coming new long-haul route from Warsaw to South Korea from October 16, 2016.
Without an agreement with Russia for Siberian overflight rights, the carrier would have to make a long detour on a southern route.
But as late as the start of this month, the Polish and Russian authorities have finally completed negotiations over an agreement to allow LOT to operate the flights through the shortest route via Siberian airspace.
Besides allowing optimal conditions for the coming new route to Seoul, the agreement will also allow LOT to operate flights to future new Asian destinations as well an increasing frequencies on existing routes to Beijing and Tokyo.
