Sep 22, 2016 (newstodate): Operating an all-Boeing 787 fleet for its expanding long-haul route network, Norwegian is hiring fresh cockpit crews.
In 2016, the carrier will take in 210 new pilots, in 2017 plans are to employ an additional 300 pilots, and by 2020 Norwegian will have more than 1,000 pilots on the Boeing 787 fleet alone.
In the fleet now are eight Boeing 787-8 aircraft and three larger Boeing 787-9 aircraft that will become the backbone of the long-haul fleet as orders have been placed for a further 31 aircraft.
In addition, the carrier holds options for two more Boeing 787-8 and 10 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
Norwegian is Europe's third-largest low-cost carrier, the second-largest airline in Scandinavia, and the ninth-largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers.
