Sep 19, 2016 (newstodate): Lithuania is to see the first freighter flight between Kaunas and Tianjin tomorrow, September 20, 2016.
The new twice-weekly service will be operated with a Boeing 747-300 freighter from the Belarus cargo carrier TransAviaExpress, bringing in e-commerce shipments from Chinese companies to be distributed from Kaunas to the Baltic, Scandinavian, Central European and other markets by network of trucking services by the Lithuanian transport and logistics provider Hoptrans.
To secure profitable operations, much effort has been invested in attracting exporters from the Baltic and other countries, primarily in the perishables industries to grasp this new and unique opportunity for a scheduled direct freighter service benefiting from competitive flying times.
