Sep 26, 2016 (newstodate): The Icelandic cargo ACMI carrier Bluebird Cargo is to change the composition of its freighter fleet.
The airline is now operating a fleet comprising four converted Boeing 737-300 and two Boeing 737-400 freighters flying for TNT on fixed contracts as well as operating ad-hoc charter operations.
TNT has, however, decided to focus in the future on Boeing 737-400 freighters rather than -300 aircraft, and this forces Bluebird Cargo to reconsider its fleet plans.
Bluebird Cargo's lease of three of the four Boeing 737-300 aircraft is due to expire in 2017, and the fourth will be returned to its lessor by May 2018.
The carrier is now negotiating the lease of one Boeing 737-400 to be delivered by May 2017, and more freighters of this type are also being considered.
