Sep 08, 2016 (newstodate): August 2016 figures from Finnair confirm the company's sustained positive trend in this year's cargo volumes.
Rising 9.6 percent, y-o-y, the airline's total volume of cargo reached 12,490 tonnes, bringing the Jan-Aug 2016 volumes to 96,416 tonnes, up 14.2 percent.
In August, volumes on the airline's scheduled passenger flights were also up 12.3 percent to 11,211 tonnes, while cargo on freighter flights operated by DHL accrued to 1,280 tonnes, down 9.5 percent y-o-y.
With 7,972 tonnes in August, Asia remained the single largest market rising 6.1 percent, but the N Atlantic traffic was up by 22.8 percent, to 884 tonnes. Europe also performed positively with an increase by 37.4 percent to 2,220 tonnes.
In August, the cargo capacity in scheduled traffic measured in ATKs grew by 4.9 percent, while RTKs increased by 8.7 percent, leading to growth in over-all cargo load factors.
