Sep 19, 2016 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is determined to cooperate with GSSAs as the main venue to the markets.
Already in 2014, more than 50 percent of the company's cargo sales was generated through GSSA contracts, and this trend is continuing.
-Certainly, we use GSSA services globally. Already a clear majority of our sales are performed throughout our partner network. It's been our focus to gain a close cooperation with GSSAs who command an intimate market knowledge and who are well networked with local customers, partners and other relevant stakeholders, says Janne Tarvainen, Finnair Cargo Managing Director.
-In selecting a GSSA for Finnair Cargo, it is important that our partner can offer a customer-orientated service approach and is willing to walk the extra mile in providing our customers with a good air cargo experience. But it takes two to tango; we as the airline are continuously challenging ourselves making sure that we offer our partners the right tool so that they can be productive in the market, facing our customers.
-In regard to this, our latest development is the new CMS system, Skychain that will become on efficient tool for our partners to effectively manage the shipments in our network. We are really looking forward to the last mile of the implementation of this system, says Mr Tarvainen.
Mercator's Skychain is scheduled to be implemented by October 2016, six months before the opening of Finnair's new cargo terminal in spring 2017.
The Mercator platform and the new cargo terminal will secure the scaling and handling of Finnair's cargo volumes, rising as the carrier builds its fleet of a total of 19 Airbus A350 aircraft that will grow the cargo capacity by 50 percent by 2020.
