Sep 05, 2016 (newstodate): The regional airport at Tartu, Estonia, is keen to develop its air traffic offerings.
Finnair is currently the only airline operating at Tartu Airport, with flights to Helsinki that set a new record in passenger volumes in August 2016, with 2,771 passengers.
While the numbers are thus still modest, the volumes carried in August this year was none the less an increase by 29 percent, y-o-y, indicating a growing need for air transportation.
Starting from October 30, 2011, Flybe started operating in cooperation with Finnair on the route Helsinki-TartuHelsinki, but on May 01, 2015, Finnair took over the route, with the Finnish commuter airline, Nordic Regional Airlines, NoRRA as the operator.
Tartu Airport has one 1,799 m runway and completed construction of a new passenger terminal by the end of August 2016.
