Sep 09, 2016 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica is fast advancing toward its goal of performing all flights with own aircraft after having relied heavily on external providers from the start.
In May 2016, 29 percent of the flight operations were performed with own aircraft, but this proportion rose to 76 percent in July and reached 78 percent in August 2016.
Set up in the aftermath of the demise of Estonian Air, Nordic Aviation, later renamed Nordica, performed its first flight on November 8, 2015, with aircraft operated by Adria Airways in cooperation with bmi Regional, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair.
Nordicas contracts with its partners Carpatair and NextJet, whose aircraft and crews it had leased since November 2015, expired in July 2016.
Only one partner, bmi Regional, will now be supporting Nordica until the start of the winter schedule 2016/17.
In August 2016, the airline carried a total of 40,069 passengers on 739 flights with a total over-all load factor at 71.3 percent, bringing the total number of passengers served this year to 232,993.
In the fleet of state-owned Nordica are two CRJ700 and four CRJ 900 aircraft operated on partner airline Adria's AOC.
