Sep 26, 2016 (newstodate): The Danish industry giant A.P. Mller-Maersk A/S is to be split into two separate divisions - Transport & Logistics, and Energy.
While certainly belonging to the transport and logistics industries, the Danish cargo airline Star Air, owned by the Danish A.P. MollerMaersk Group, is to continue flying as before.
-Star Air will continue under APMM ownership with its own appointed Board as of today, operating 12 Boeing 767 freighters including 11 Boeing 767-200 and one Boeing 767-300 aircraft, says Soren Graversen, Star Air CEO & Accountable Manager since May 2008.
In 2014, Star Air again won the UPS contract to operate European routes for the integrator based at Cologne Airport for another 10-year period.
Excess capacity beyond the needs of UPS is also sold to other customers, primarily for operations in Europe.
Star Air was founded in 1987 and started operation with two Fokker F27.
In 2001, the company took delivery of the first of four Boeing 757-200PF, leading to the next upgrade to 11 Boeing 767-200SF, delivered from March 2005 to September 2006, gradually phasing out the Boeing 757.
The latest addition to the fleet was the single Boeing 767-300BCF, delivered in January 2015 on a lease contract with ACMI provider ABX as the current 10-year UPS contract was secured.
