Sep 28, 2016 (newstodate): The leading Norwegian aircraft broker Aircontact reports a sustained high growth rate in 2016.
In July 2016, newstodate reported a growth at Aircontact by 40 percent in the first half of the year - and this seems to have continued.
-The trend has definitely continued since then - we have been extremely busy, seeing growth in almost all business segments, says Christian Juul Moller, Aircontact Manager Special Charters ACMI & Cargo.
-The growth is especially strong in the passenger market segment. Aircraft capacity remains an issue, but primarily a seasonal one as demand peaks during the summer season and easing during the autumn and winter seasons. This basically translates into fluctuations in charter prices, and most of our assignments are on longer-term planning.
-We are actually now busy, not with the coming autumn and winter seasons but with planning for summer and autumn 2017. So far, all contracts are signed until end of June 2017 already.
-Cargo charters are going well also, despite a dampening of the off-shore activities that have been driving this business. Still, there is a need for spares and components constituting a significant business even now.
-The military market was at its height in 2000-2003, but plays a minor role now after the SALIS contract and the cooperation among NATO members in the C-17 service. We are not seeing any repercussions yet from the announced break-up of SALIS, but the military market has turned into a long-term planned segment that is basically, or mostly, out of our reach.
-But all in all, Aircontact is seeing a continued strong development as a leading player in the field, says Mr Juul Moller.
