Aug 24, 2016 (newstodate): The Swedish/UK carrier West Atlantic is on firm tracks with its new CEO since February 29, 2016, Fredrick Groth.
During a period with major disagreements over strategy and financial dispositions among members of the Board, leading to a reshuffling of the Board and the stepping down in February 2016 of its former CEO since 1995, operations remained unaffected and Mr Groth confirms that everything is business as usual.
-In the fleet of West Atlantic are now three Boeing 767-200F aircraft and we do not see more coming this side of the corner. The market for Boeing 767 freighters is limited, with only relatively few customers, says Mr Groth.
-Also the number of aircraft in our Boeing 737 freighter fleet remains stable. We are taking lease of one more Boeing 737-400F freighter to be delivered in September 2016, but this is actually a replacement for one Boeing 737-300F aircraft also serving for DHL, leaving the total at 12 aircraft, including one operating for another airline.
-With 33 ATP freighters in service, we remain the largest operator of this aircraft type. In addition to the aircraft now operating for us, another 10 are available awaiting either leasing by other carriers, re-entry into service for ourselves, or cannibalization. The market for freighter with capacity less than eight tonnes is highly competitive, with new start-ups operating two or three aircraft coming up in Europe and elsewhere, says Mr Groth.
