Aug 12, 2016 (newstodate): According to January-May statistics from Sweden's Trafikstyrelsen, air cargo volumes in 2016 were virtually unchanged against last year.
Counting all Swedish airports together, the total air cargo volumes in January-May 2016 were 51,334 tonnes against 51,369 tonnes in 2015.
On this total volume, international air cargo accounted for 50,232 tonnes in 2016, compared to 50,425 tonnes in 2015.
Of these international volumes, European cargo was 24,179 tonnes in January-May 2016, against 24,715 tonnes in 2015.
In sharp contrast to the figures by Trafikstyrelsen, Swedavia in its latest figures on Q1, 2016, reported positive growth in cargo volumes in 2016 on all three main airports it manages.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport thus saw its volumes in Q1 2016 up by 12.4 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 38,935 tonnes, Gothenburg Airport handled 13,407 tonnes, also up two percent during Q1, and Malmo Airport saw its volumes up by 23.1 percent to 59,965 tonnes.
