Aug 17, 2016 (newstodate): Swedavia reports an increase by 7.8 percent, y-o-y, of cargo volumes in H1, 2016, through its three largest cargo airports at Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo.
In total, 122,581 tonnes of cargo was handled at the three airports, with Stockholm Arlanda Airport accounting for 79.365 tonnes of cargo during January-June 2016, a growth by 10.6 percent primarily due to a significant increase in belly cargo capacity on the airport's international routes.
28,006 tonnes of cargo was handled at the second-largest airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport where volumes thus rose modestly by 1.6 percent indicating, however, a recovery from an earlier period marked by decline after the loss of wide-body freighter services.
Near the Oeresund Strait, Malmo Airport continued to see a brisk air cargo growth by 5.7 percent, y-o-y, due to an increase in all-cargo operations by Russian carriers ABC and Atran.
