Aug 17, 2016 (newstodate): The leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines has announced the opening of a new route connecting Poland and Spain from this winter.
With the first flight on December 29, 2016, the carrier will be operating two weekly rotations on a route from Warsaw via Lublin to Barcelona using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Sales via Small Planet Airlines' website will offer seats on three classes Basic, Flex and Premium, which is a novelty on Small Planet Airlines that has so far been operating with one class configuration only.
Small Planet Airlines first tested direct passenger sales starting from the end of May 2016, as the carrier offered direct passenger sales on certain flights out of two Polish Airports, Warsaw and Katowice.
-This is not to be considered a new business model for Small Planet Airlines, rather a test to optimize the utilization of existing capacity on charter flights operated on behalf of Polish tour operators, says Simonas Bartkus, Small Planet Airport CCO told newstodate in January 2016.
At the meeting, Mr Bartkus also said that "It will remain marginal and incremental business for us and is really just one example of our efforts to make the most out of existing opportunities while still playing it safe - and it will be in the market only during the summer season".
It may since have proved a convincing success, though....
