Aug 30, 2016 (newstodate): The first seven months of 2016 brought little relief to Russia's ailing airfreight industry.
In January-July 2016, the total volume of cargo carried by Russian airlines was down 12.9 percent, y-o-y, to 517,900 tonnes while production was up by 14.1 percent, y-o-y, to 3,533,263 tonne-kilometers.
The country's Top-5 carriers together accounted for 80.4 percent of the total volumes lifted, aggregating 416,312 tonnes of cargo which was still down 11.4 percent, y-o-y.
Topping the list was AirBridgeCargo with 279,102 tonnes, down 19.5 percent, Aeroflot 87,491 tonnes and up 12.6 percent, S7 Sibir with 18,690 tonnes and up 14 percent, Volga-Dnepr down 17.5 percent to 16,252 tonnes, and finally UTAir up 61.4 percent to 14,777 tonnes.
