Aug 29, 2016 (newstodate): The Iranian carrier Mahan Air is most satisfied with the performance of its route between Tehran and Copenhagen.
Mahan Air launched flights on the new route from June 9, 2016, offering two weekly rotations with Airbus A340 aircraft.
-We have been absolutely satisfied with the performance of the route that operates with a passenger load factor over 75 percent, says Hossein Abdolahi, Mahan Air International Affairs Expert.
-We thus consider the route to be firmly established in the market and will keep the two weekly rotations also during the coming winter schedule. We might add a third frequency from summer 2017, but his has not been decided yet.
-Contributing to the sound performance of the route Denmark is also growing volumes of transit traffic from our Asian destinations to Denmark via our hub in Tehran. Unfortunately we do not at this stage have interline agreement with other carriers at Copenhagen Airport but that is certainly also being worked on.
-Copenhagen will remain our Scandinavian focus as some political issues are still barring us from establishing a route to Stockholm, and Norway is not on our immediate horizon. As for Finland, we do have plans here, but no decision has been made.
-We would certainly like to develop our business at Copenhagen to comprise also air cargo. But while the sanctions have basically been lifted, issues still remain on a number of specific items and categories of cargo, so this is still somewhat in the future.
-But overall, we have had a great start of the route between Iran and Denmark and expect further development, says Mr Abdolahi.
