Aug 03, 2016 (newstodate): The Chinese cargo carrier SF Airlines is continuing its rapid freighter fleet expansion.
On August 2, 2016, the carrier took delivery of its 16th converted Boeing 737-300 freighter, and it plans to take three more converted Boeing 737-300 freighters in 2016.
With the first flight in 2009, SF Airlines is China's largest cargo carrier, operating a fleet also comprising 15 Boeing 757 and one Boeing 767 cargo aircraft, with orders placed for a further 29 Boeing 767 freighters.
The airline plans to grow its fleet to over 100 aircraft by 2020.
In 2015, SF Airlines signed a LoI with the Estonian postal company Omnia to bring Chinese e-commerce goods into Tallinn Airport for onward distribution.
The latest converted freighter to SF Airlines was also the 100th Boeing 737 converted to freighter by PEMCO since the start of the program in 1991 with launch customer LAeropostale.
The first Boeing 737-300 aircraft in China was a PEMCO-converted aircraft accomplished by STAECO in 2006 for Donghai Airlines the first ever Boeing 737-300 freighter conversion completed in China.
Since 2006, PEMCO has redelivered over 50 Boeing 737-300 and -400 freighter modification projects to Chinese operators.
