Aug 04, 2016 (newstodate): Chinese capital may again be targeting Europe's aviation industry, with Poland as one potential example.
According to Polish media, while still not officially confirmed, Air China may have cast its eyes on acquiring a stake in Poland's troubled carrier LOT.
On the official level, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawieck has confirmed that the country is in talks with "potential investors" from China over selling a stake in the state-owned airline LOT.
-LOT is our national carrier, which we are trying to save no matter the cost. It is deeply in debt. Without a national carrier Poland would become a more peripheral country, Mr Morawiecki told state news agency PAP.
In the meantime, Air China is planning for launch of non-stop services to Poland.
If all details fall into place, the carrier will start non-stop operations on the route between Beijing and Warsaw from September 2016, offering four weekly rotations with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
